Saturday - to Florence

We had time for a final feast of a breakfast before leaving Vincenza by train this morning bound for Florence. We arrived at 11:30 AM and David was there waiting to show us the route to Anne's apartment. Anne is hosting us for David's birthday celebration. We walked there- about 40 minutes from the train station. Her apartment is quite large and on the top floor of her building with a wonderful terrace overlooking the city. That is where we ate our lunch. Later we drove into the hills outside Florence to Monte Senerio, the impressive hilltop setting of a convent. A long tree-lined pathway led to the convent from which we could view the hills of the Tuscan countryside.  We all enjoyed the outing including Anne's dog, Sahjo, a Tibetan terrier. We had supper at a small neighbourhood trattoria very close to Anne's apartment, followed by a multi-lingual game of Scrabble!
