Tango is a major theme in our trip to Argentina. We take private tango lessons twice a week, practice our tango steps in the apartment, and are taking in a number of milongas where we can dance tango and see tango performed by others. We sometimes pass the open door of a cafe where we see dancers taking lessons, and in some locations dancers are performing outdoors on a plaza. One venue for tango is the Confiteria Ideal, a classic tango hall where one can dance tango in the afternoon or all night. At milongas, the music may be supplied by a tango DJ and sometimes there is an orchestra. I have to confess that tango shoe shopping was high on my list of things to do as well. I was eager to buy a pair of tango practice shoes. (These are hard to come by back in Canada.) I was also on the lookout for a pair of fancy tango shoes with somewhat lower heels to replace my current pair of dress shoes. I am happy to report that my shopping efforts were successful. The photos below are all on the tango theme.
